AVIS-E RC Plank Glider Build Log

How to build RC Glider AVIS 1400 , A Sleek Flying Wing Glider for Calm and Thermal Flights

The AVIS-E 1400 is a beautifully crafted flying wing plank glider that offers a unique blend of simplicity, performance, and elegance. Designed specifically for thermal soaring, this model is built for smooth, stable, and efficient gliding—perfect for those who enjoy a relaxed flying experience.

With its minimalist flying wing design, the AVIS-E 1400 is both aerodynamically clean and visually striking.

The construction uses lightweight balsa wood and a carbon spar tube, resulting in a durable yet featherlight airframe.

The build process is straightforward, making it a satisfying project for both novice and experienced modelers.

If you’re looking to power it up, the AVIS 1400 can be easily motorized. A brushless AXI 2208/34 motor (or similar) works well with a 9×4” folding propeller, paired with a 3-cell 850mAh LiPo battery and an 8A ESC.

  1. Hello i just cut the parts for this build and im confused on a couple of things. 1 is there washout in the tips and what are the control throws It looks like the flaperons are in a down position at neuttral can you please provide me with that information

    1. Hello Davis!

The washout at the wingtip is built into the design; that’s why each rib has its own support and they are removed at the end. For the first flights, I recommend small aileron travel (10 mm up and down), with dual rates and exponential.

Pay close attention to the center of gravity—follow the plan and it will fly excellently.

  2. What position are the Ailerons in at neutral centerline of the wing?
