“BEE” DLG (Discus Launch Glider) is a traditional balsa wood RC Glider with modern performance enhancements.
It blends the nostalgic charm of classic model construction—using balsa, plywood, and carbon fiber—with thoughtful design and ease of assembly. While it may not be ideal as a first build for complete beginners, anyone with some experience working with balsa structures will find this a rewarding and enjoyable project.
The included instruction photos provide detailed, step-by-step guidance, helping even newcomers to this flying style get started with confidence.
The wing ribs feature built-in jig tabs, allowing for precise assembly of the airfoil-optimized wing on a flat surface. An integrated washout ensures stable flight characteristics.
The fuselage is a lightweight yet strong structure made of balsa and plywood. A carbon tube tail boom supports a durable liteply pylon-mounted tailplane, offering excellent stiffness with minimal drag.
The one-piece wing is built around a carbon main spar with a durable beechwood leading edge, providing rigidity while keeping the glider light. A secure bolt mounts the wing to the fuselage, and the discus launch peg can be installed on either wingtip—perfect for both right- and left-handed pilots.
The empennage is constructed from balsa with optional carbon reinforcements, combining strength and lightness. The elevator and rudder are controlled by micro servos housed within the fuselage, connected via pull-pull wires routed through the carbon tail boom.
